My dad, Tony Herr, passed away on May 14, 2024 from Alzheimer’s. When I saw that the Northern Virginia Walk to End Alzheimer’s was taking place on his birthday, I knew it was something that I wanted to do to honor his memory.
My dad was an incredible man who dedicated his life to his family and wanted nothing more than to bring joy to everyone he came into contact with. Against all odds, he survived a brain aneurysm at 30, and his family is so grateful for every year that we had with him after that. This year, we will walk to remember dad’s bear hugs, the way he always had a dad-joke at the ready, and the courageous fight he put up against this devastating disease.
We’re teaming up late in the game with only a month to go before the walk, but we hope to raise a small amount of money to put toward Alzheimer’s research, to support the families of those affected, and to cherish the memories of loved ones lost.
