It seems like everyone knows someone who has been impacted by Alzheimer's Disease. I am walking in honor of my friend Susan. Susan was a brilliant psychologist, a respected leader, and feminist trailblazer. She was my mentor & internship preceptor when I was studying to become a licensed nursing home administrator. When I passed my exam and received my license, Susan hired me to work with her to open a new facility with state-of-the-art services for people with dementia. We wrote and published articles about creative arts in nursing homes. And we remained close friends after we stopped working together. How ironic that Susan now has dementia and can no longer share her knowledge or voice her needs. Alzheimer's doesn't discriminate. Please join our team and walk to end Alzheimer's. Do this to honor of your Susan--those in your life who have been impacted by Alzheimer's and other dementias.
