All of you who knew my parents, know that they loved to have a good time. When our mom, Bette Kern, got dementia, it never diminished her zest for life. Mom loved to dance (she was terrible and had no rhythm), she loved to walk and swim and hang out with her friends. She loved our dad. Many years after he died, when she was 86 she found love again with her lifelong neighbor Mr. Kempfer. That was so sweet!
Mom taught us the importance of giving. I want to honor her by giving some of my time and our resources to help in the effort to find a cure for Alzheimer's and all forms of dementia. We were blessed to have her for almost 90 years. How much sweeter those last few years would have been without the ravages of this horrible disease.
