I started volunteering with the Alzheimer's Association about 8 years ago when some friends invited me to become a volunteer with Alzheimer's and join their team. Little did they know I had lost my father to Alzheimer's. A couple years later my spouse and I started our own team, "Leaps for Lee." Since starting that team, we have lost additional family members to this disease. My daughter-in-law's mother had vascular dementia, and we lost her almost three years ago. Two other cousins on my spouse's side left us too soon as a result of dementia as well. This is why I volunteer, and this is why I walk. This is my big "Why."
Alzheimer’s isn’t stopping and neither are we. By participating in the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s, we are raising awareness and funds to advance the fight against this disease — funds that allow the Alzheimer’s Association to provide 24/7 care and support while accelerating critical research.
Families facing Alzheimer’s and all other dementia need us — and with your help, we can be there for them. Please make a donation or register as a participant and start your fundraising efforts. Together, we can end Alzheimer’s disease.
Thank you for your support!
