You can't explain what it is like to mourn someone who is still alive, unless you've experienced it first hand.
Before Prue was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, we really didn't know too much about the disease. What we knew was what we had learned from Hollywood. As so often the movies do, the disease has been romanticized as a simple and sometimes even a "cute" forgetfulness.
The truth is Alzheimer's is so much more than being forgetful. And it is an ugly disease, nothing cute at all. The disease unfortunately makes its way throughout the brain affecting memory, personality, and even basic bodily functions. In just a few short years, Prue has gone from a highly functioning and intelligent mother, wife, friend, and co-worker to being completely dependent on caretakers for even the most basic bodily functions. And she is not alone in this disease, there are currently over 5 million Americans living with Alzheimer's today.
Please join our family as we honor Prue and the millions who are suffering with Alzheimer's. We must bring awareness and put an end to this horrific disease.
Thank you for everyone's help, support, and kind words.
