As we enter the eighth year of our strategic alliance with the Alzheimer’s Association, we are proud to have raised more than $39 million to end this devastating disease through walking, educating, and advocating. Nearly 13,000 Edward Jones colleagues, clients and families partnered for positive impact by participating in over 600 Walks to End Alzheimer's nationwide in2022. We raised nearly $3.6 million!
Alzheimer's disease impacts more than 300,000 Edward Jones clients. It's a devastating disease with no known cure. More than 6 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's and more than 11 million Americans provide unpaid care for people living with Alzheimer's or other dementias. And it's one of the most expensive diseases with a lifetime cost of care of more than $390,000.
Alzheimer's hits us right where we live: destroying thewealth and well-being of our clients, our colleagues, and our communities. Butwe are hitting back hard.
In July 2020, Edward Jones doubled down on our commitment tothe Alzheimer's Association - pledging $25 million over five years on top ofthe $25 million we'd already raised in the first five years of our strategicalliance.
Even more exciting? $4.5 million of that will fundgroundbreaking research that could lead to new treatments and, we hope, a cure.
The total investment of $50 million, over the course of 10 years, is the largest commitment ever pledged by a corporate partner to the Alzheimer’s Association and is being used to enhance care and support programs, provide educational materials for Edward Jones clients and colleagues, and advance critical Alzheimer’s research.
The recent news that the FDA has approved two new drugs - to slow the progression of Alzheimer's - offers hope to those with Alzheimer's. These treatments are groundbreaking, but it is only one step in our fight to find a cure.
By rallying our branch teams, clients, and communities to join us in local Walks, we can channel our combined resources toward providing full mission support of the Alzheimer’s Association — enhancing care and support programs, providing educational materials for Edward Jones clients and associates, and advancing critical Alzheimer’s research.
This year, our goal is to have 3,000 Walk teams with 13,000Walk participants and raise $3 million in the fight to find a cure. Can we count on YOU to join the fight withus?
