No one expects to receive an Alzheimer’s diagnosis, especially for someone as intellectually advanced as my father. John spent decades in the pharmaceutical industry as a toxicologist seeking cures and better treatments for diseases. Five years ago John suffered a stroke prompting an unveiling into his personal diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease.
My dad loves his family, friends, and dog Princess. The first time he meets anyone they will eventually know how much my father loves to wear anything Tommy Bahama, watch cousin Jack Flaherty play baseball, explore the stars through his mega telescope, enjoy fine wine, sing Jimmy Buffet songs, and travel to Hawaii. Now they will also learn he has Alzheimer’s disease, but we are fighting back.
John is currently enrolled in a clinical trial with Syrentis research center to help with a new drug in its battle against Alzheimer’s. Every two weeks we take dad for his infusions with the hope his next PET scan will show reduction in the effects of Alzheimer’s. This treatment is just one step on the way to finding more care and support for those with Alzheimer’s and their loved ones.
By participating in the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s, I’m raising funds and awareness to advance the fight against this disease — funds that allow the Alzheimer’s Association to provide 24/7 care and support while accelerating critical research.
Please consider making a donation or joining our team to help find more treatments to end Alzheimer’s disease.
Thank you, from your favorite man wearing a Tommy Bahama shirt sipping on Mai Tai’s and singing Jimmy Buffet - - Dr. John Wisler (aka Kuku, my dad)
