By continuing to participate in the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's®, I'm committed to raising awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s research, care and support. I have done volunteer work for the association for over ten years now and have witnessed the great support they provide to those suffering from dementia and their caregivers. While I was very fortunate that my dad's dementia in his last year of life was minimal, the Association did step in to assist us in those last final months.
This will be my 8th year as the Logistics Chair for the Walk which will again be at Sonoma State Univ. on Oct. 7th. My team is again walking in honor of our dear friend Dave Von Bima who was diagnosed with Alzheimer's last year. Our hearts go out to Dave and his family.
I have learned a lot about ALZ as a volunteer over the years and the link here is an example of why I am working to help raise funds. Everyone's stories go straight to your heart:

Currently, more than 7 million Americans have Alzheimer's and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. We need to find a way to change the course of this disease. There has been exciting news recently about the new drug which helps those with early onset Alzheimer's gain about 6 months. This is a good sign that progress is being made to find a cure for all types of dementia.
Please help me reach my fundraising goal and make a donation to help the Alzheimer's Association advance research into methods of treatment, prevention and, ultimately, a cure for Alzheimer's. For the millions already affected by the disease, the Association offers care, education, support and resources in communities nationwide. And if you are up for a touching ceremony and lovely walk on the campus, join my team!
Thank you for joining the movement! The end of Alzheimer's disease starts with you and me.
