2023 will be my 9th #Walk2EndAlz and my goal is the same as last year- to raise $2000. Team Funksters started in Chico in 2015 while Mel was in college, coming to Sacramento in 2017, where I joined the Walk committee as the Mission chair for 3 years, in which I started collecting "Why I Walk " videos and along with my partner John, we were finally able to play them at last years Walk as well as created a Recipe book featuring loved ones recipes and stories.
It will be 5 years in March since my mom Dorothy passed of the disease, the Long Good Bye, and it's still painful but I've channeled that into advocacy work and support of the Alzheimer's Association raising money for research, education and outreach and the 24/7 helpline/website. I want everyone to see that purple arrow and know the 10 early warning signs, like you know the pink ribbon is for breast cancer. But most of all, I want effective treatment and ultimately a cure. So no one else has to lose their loved one to this disease and live in fear of getting it.
! in 5 CA women will be diagnosed and die of the disease, with the numbers expected to double by 2040. Donate like your life depends on it.
