As many of you know, Tory and I lost our amazing father, Peter Hirshfield, to Alzheimer's disease on Friday, March 15th. Caring for him throughout his journey, and watching his steady decline while knowing there was nothing that we could medically do to help him was beyond devastating. What was absolutely incredible to witness was his positive, hopeful attitude every step of the way. In honor of my father's incredible life, passion for walking, and enthusiasm for donating to causes he cared about, we are planning a memorial for him which will kick off at this year's Alzheimer's walk and be followed by a rootbeer float Celebration of Life party at Belden Barns.
By participating in the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s, we are raising funds and awareness to advance the fight against this disease — funds that allow the Alzheimer’s Association to provide 24/7 care and support while accelerating critical research. Thanks to so many of your generous spirits, our team raised over $50,000 in the past few years. And this year, while I know it's a lofty goal,, we are hoping to hit the $100,000 mark in honor of our father's beautiful life.
Please think about joining Team Papa Peter in the Walk To End Alzheimer's on Saturday', October 5th in Sonoma. We would be so honored to walk with you! And if you can't walk, please consider making a donation of any size. Together, we can fight to find a cure.
With so much love and gratitude,
Lauren and Tory
