When I look at my mom, I see a woman of strength, love and compassion. I see a woman who worked hard alongside my dad her whole life to make sure her family had what we needed. She always made the best memories with her family and loved us and anyone she met unconditionally. She always went out her way to make others happy. Anyone who has met her has been blessed to do so.
Today when I look at my mom, I still see all those great things, but I see a woman who gets frustrated because she doesn't remember things and can't do things for herself like she use to. It breaks my heart to see her battle dementia as it takes so much from her.
This disease not only affects the person living with it, but it also touches the ones who love them.
I will be walking to help end Alzheimer's and I will be walking for my momma, Sheila Wieck.
