My grandfather was my best friend when I was little.  I was in his room everyday and accompanied him everywhere he went.  As he aged, he started showing strange signs of dementia.  I noticed some of these signs but was too young to understand what this meant or what to do. Instead, I felt confused and sometimes felt terribly guilty when I didn't want to be with him and pretended I didn't hear him calling my name.  I never stopped feeling guilty, even to this day.

This lead me eventually to work with seniors decades later.  I want the society to be more aware about Alzheimer's and dementia so that more people know how to care for the loved ones and educate people around them.  But what we really need is to find the cure.  

I'm walking on September 14, 2024 at Seascape Resort Park to help reclaim the future for millions. By participating in the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's®, I'm committed to raising awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s research, care and support.  I am fully aware that many of us are having to deal with different financial situations and/or bombarded with many solicitations for donations for variety of worthy cause like this one.  So please do not feel obligated, but I do appreciate your participation especially during these tough times.

Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease.  None of us is immune from this diease!
