As many of you know, this Alzheimer's story is very personal and close to me and my sister, Leslie. I was my mom's main caregiver for most of her the 7 years she battled this awful disease, as I lived the closest. It takes a village (in our case, a small village) to care for loved ones. So grateful for my sister and our dear caregiver/friend Theresa. When I look back at all the struggles we had - we mostly just wanted to keep her safe and her dignity in tack. My (our) mom was full of fun, smiles, love and at time mischievous ways, so to have her loose her way and find so much fear in the unknown from Alzheimer's - was heartbreaking.
Alzheimer’s isn’t stopping and neither are we. By participating in the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s, I’m raising awareness and funds to advance the fight against this disease — funds that allow the Alzheimer’s Association to provide 24/7 care and support while accelerating critical research.
Families facing Alzheimer’s and all other dementia need us — and with your help, we can be there for them. Please make a donation or register as a participant and start your own fundraising efforts. Together, we can end Alzheimer’s disease.
Thank you for your support!
