Shortly after moving here to Hemet West, my Mom and Dad were both diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2015 and when the dementia started getting dangerous I sold my house, put my business on hold, and moved in to become their full-time caregiver. Two years later they both were in end-stage dementia and we started in-home hospice care for both of them. Two days after Christmas 2018 I went to wake Mom and found she had passed away in her sleep. That day Dad kept forgetting we told him she had passed so he kept reliving the sorrow and pain of losing her over and over. The next morning I went to wake Dad and found he had passed away too.
The Lakes at Hemet West is a senior community filled with active seniors that are friendly, kind, considerate, and always ready to help others in need. Like many senior communities we have lost many friends and relatives to Alzheimer's and we've seen the the terrible effects of dementia that comes with it. We have formed this team to honor those in our community who have fought through this terrible disease and to honor those of us who unselfishly provided the care they needed.
Alzheimer’s disease is relentless. So are we.
In previous years we walked around Lake Skinner, walked around our community during the pandemic, and walked around South Coast Winery. This year we will walk the Promenade in Temecula.
Please sponsor a walker with a donation using this site: http://act.alz.org/goto/EdHyde. If you'd like to take off a couple hours and join us for a relaxing walk/roll around the beautiful Promenade in Temecula Saturday 10/7/23 9:00a, use the site http://act.alz.org/goto/HemetWestWalkers to register to walk and collect donations from others to sponsor you. There are also prizes for donations collected. Thank you for your support!
Thank you for joining the fight against Alzheimer's!
