We hope you can join us for the Walk to End Alzheimer's, the nation's largest fundraiser for Alzheimer's care, support and research. This year’s Beach Cities Walk will take place in Hermosa Beach on Saturday, October 7th.
Seeing so many of you last year and reconnecting during the walk was wonderful. But it was also sad. Sad because it was clear that even with all the research, funds, and experimental treatments, the numbers and stories of those affected firsthand by Alzheimer's and dementia continue to grow. Seeing so many of our friends and community members who had previously walked in support of someone they knew whose life was touched by this disease were now walking because their own lives were now directly affected.
We want to be able to say that Dad/Grandpa is doing better. We want to say caring for him was easier on Mom/Grandma this year. We want to say that Cami and Chayse are creating new memories with Grandpa. We want to be able say that his memories have stopped being stolen from him. But that is not possible. Not yet.
However, we can say that we continue to discover a lot about our family as we take care of and love him. And while we are grateful for that, it is time we discover a cure.
On October 7th, we will walk from the Hermosa Beach pier to the Manhattan Beach border and back to raise awareness of this terrible disease and to continue raising much-needed research funds so that other families hopefully do not have to go through the many heartaches of Alzheimer’s.
Thank you for teaming with us in this battle to find a cure. A life-changing treatment would mean so much for our family as we are sure it would for yours.
Please join us in our fight against Alzheimer's by joining the 13th Hole Team on October 7th.
We are forever grateful for the unconditional love and support you continue to show our family.
With much gratitude and appreciation,
Chayse, Cami, Sarah & Andy Elkin
