This is my 10th year participating in the Walk to End Alzheimer's. A decade of support to bring awareness and raise funds to help patients and those caregivers who give so much to bring care and love.
My dad, Martin, was a huge influence in my life as I imagine most fathers are to their daughters. This humble man, born and raised in rural Porterville, CA to immigrant Croatian parents, went on to become a leader in the table grape industry and yet really derived the most pleasure when all the family was gathered together at the dinner table sharing stories.
He would tell us that his father's admonishment to him, roughly translated from Croatian, was to "do first, then talk". And my father did that.
So with this Alzheimer's Walk, I am attempting to "do first". And that will be Walking on October 14 at La Playa Stadium to raise funds that will help the Alzheimer's Central Coast Chapter give care and support to those with this disease in our service area of Ventura, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties.
And I hope you will help me by "doing", and donating along with me.
