My experience with dementia is as a family caregiver for my Mom: beginning with mild cognitive impairment; to diagnosis; through mild, moderate, and severe stages; at home and then in a facility; in hospice; to her passing in January 2020. Mom would have been 90 in July, but had been living with little quality of life.
I have such great memories, like visiting for her 2018 birthday. We went to lunch at her favorite place, Cracker Barrel, and later we had cake and she opened presents. I think of her all the time, like how she loved to line dance, especially to her favorite song, New York, New York.
Thank you, and may God bless you, for donating for the care and support of those on the journey, and for research to find a cure for this awful disease of Alzheimer’s and other dementias.
