I am Veronica, I have been a caregiver for 20 years. I have worked in an assisted living center and a memory care facility. I, as a caregiver, believe that we need more education on Alzheimer and dementia.
I have cared for residents in different stages of the disease. One particular person made an impact on me, Mrs. Myrtle. All she wanted was all other people out of her house, go to work or school, pick up her daughters and be with her husband who left and has not been back since the morning.
Myrtle is not my first resident with Alzheimer, and she will not be my last one. My fight starts with her, for a cure, for education, for a quick response to what they go throught. My journey starts now.
Thank you Shelly and Sherry, this is to honor your mom!
Alzheimer's isn't stopping and neither are we. By participating in the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's, I'm raising awareness and funds to advance the fight against this disease - funds that allow the Alzheimer's Association to provide 24/7 care and support while accelerating critical research.
Families facing Alzheimer's and all other dementia need us - and with your help, we can be there for them. Please make a donation or register as a participant and start your own fundraising efforts. Together, we can end Alzheimer's disease.
Thank you for your support!
