To know her before her diagnosis was to know a woman full of life despite hardships. You probably weighted a little more because she kept you stocked with homemade cakes and brownies. She never met a stranger, and you could hear her laugh from a mile away.

Though my grandmother is still alive, this disease robbed the world of an intense ray of light for the past 15 years. I walk in solidarity with her ongoing battle. I walk for those that lost years of their own life caring for others. I walk so that one day, no one else will have to watch a loved one slip away from this disease.
