What memory would you fight to protect?
Is it your wedding day, the birth of your first child or the sound of your grandmother's voice?
For me, it’s my adventures and the smell of Queen Isabella’s orange trees just after a fresh rain in the South of Spain.
Memories are what shape, motivate and inspire us. Why am I writing this? Why are you reading this instead of navigating through your never-ending to-do list? Great question!
I was recently selected to represent both Alaska & Edward Jones to attended a summit in New Orleans where we spent the better part of our week sharing our,"why".
Did you know that on the Kenai Peninsula alone there have been 11,400 individuals diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, or other forms of dementia? Alzheimer’s is a progressive and fatal disease that affects both the individual and their families. In this fight, Edward Jones continues to be a leader in our communities, raising both awareness and funds to fight this disease. Last year our state was #1 for people reached, and our little Peninsula was named having had the BEST first time walk ever- nationwide.
So, is that it? Are we done? Well, I probably wouldn't be writing this if we were. This year let us start earlier, set higher goals for our teams, and strive to bring Alaska back to the center stage of these changes that are having a worldwide impact.
Alaska is the largest state, with the biggest hearts and the wildest spirits- together we can end Alzheimer's.
