Hello, friends! I am walking to honor my amazing dad, Bill Fairchild, who we lost to Alzheimer's Disease in 2012, and also to honor my mom, Mary Sue Fairchild, who cared for him with so much love, as Alzheimer's Disease slowly stole him away from her. They both had such a positive impact on the world, on their community, and on our family. I miss them both so much!
If you know and love someone with Alzheimer's, you know. We desperately need a cure. We desperately need treatments that work. It is truly terrifying. Maybe I'm not supposed to say that. But, if you haven't been clobbered by this disease, I am so happy for you.
The last time I saw my dad before he died, a doctor came into the room and asked my dad who his two visitors were. Dad looked at us and said, "That's my wife, and that's my daughter." It is amazing how much JOY erupted inside me, just knowing that my dad remembered who I was. That still makes me cry. That is a huge blessing that many people don't get.
Here are the stats: Currently, more than 6 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's and over 11 million family and friends provide their unpaid care.
We need your help to end this devastating disease. You can make an impact with a donation or even joining our team. Your kindness and generosity truly make a difference in the fight against Alzheimer’s.
Oh, and the team name is bc I named my dog after Dad, but Belle is a girl, so we went with Belle instead of Bill. :)
Thank you!
