Out here in the Last Frontier, we understand that we have to work a little harder for everything. Maybe that's why we consistently punch above our weight when it comes to support and advocacy for Alaskans, and for the patients, families and friends of Alzheimer's patients. This past year, Alzheimer’s Association Alaska advocates and Alaskans on the Dementia Action Collaborative pursued cosponsors for the legislation and provided testimony in support of the Dementia Awareness Program. HB 308 is now on the Governor's desk for signature. Our advocates worked with Senator Lisa Murkowski to fight for research dollars, and to co-sponsor the Comprehensive Care for Alzheimer's Act.
The 2022 National Facts and Figures analysis has highlighted the increasing exposure our Alaskans to Alzheimer's. Today, our state hosts an estimated unpaid caregiver burden of $409 million. By 2025, we will be home to one of the highest projected increases in adults over 65 with Alzheimer's in the country.
With your help, we can continue to punch above our weight on a national stage, bringing benefits back to Alaskans. Whether you can give $10 or $1,000, we deeply appreciate your support.
Thank you!
