Alzheimer’s isn’t stopping and neither are we. By participating in the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s®, I’m raising funds and awareness to advance the fight against this disease — funds that allow the Alzheimer’s Association® to provide 24/7 care and support while accelerating critical research.
The Alzheimer's Association is very dear to mine and my families heart. The first time our family was exposed to this terrible disease was with my brother in-laws mother. She had Alzheimer's for many years before she passed. His dad visited her every day. How hard it is for the families of their loved one going thru this. My mom has dementia. She has had it for quite some time now, and I see the progression getting worse. I think the hard thing is that at times she knows something is not right with her and she doesn't understand. I just need to be there for her. That is when she feels most comfortable is when family is with her. She gets scared sometimes when she does not know where she is at. She always says she wants to go home, I think that is the hardest part for me. I wish she did not have to live in a memory care facility, because that is not home.
Families facing Alzheimer’s and all other dementia need us now more than ever — and with your help, we can be there for them. Please make a donation or register as a participant and start your own fundraising. Together, we can end Alzheimer’s disease.
