Our mom battled this disease after being diagnosed for seven years.  She went from being able to take care of herself to having her children having to take care of her.  Our lives revolved around making sure she was taken care of.  

Watching your parent needing help doing pretty much everything gets to be heartbreaking.  She barely spoke for several years and when she did, it would melt your heart to hear her voice because you would forget what it sounded like.
