I am walking to honor my Grandpa. I unfortunately had to watch this disease rob him of who I knew growing up, in to a completely different person. Memories gone, people's faces gone. I have heard stories of the otherside of what Alzheimer's can do not just the memory loss but paranoia, mood changes. Once the Alzheimer's set it it wasn't very long before I started to loose the man I knew. I was heartbreaking and to know there wasn't anything that could be done except make him as comfortable as possible. He was in assisted living so my dad and uncle and aunt would try to go visit, take him on outings and then Covid hit and we could no longer see him. The last time I saw him was March 8th and he got sick and passed away June 19th. I hope one day we can find a cure so that there aren't so many families that have to deal with this heartache.
Tgether, we can end Alzheimer's disease. Please make a donation to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association.
Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's and that number is expected to grow to as many as 14 million by 2050. Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease.
Thank you for joining the fight against Alzheimer's!
