I walk, fundraise and pray to find an end to Alzheimer's to honor my Dad, John(we called him Bakka) and my sister, Beth. I lost my dad to Alzheimer’s in 2008. Beth was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2019. My wife, Cheryl, and I assisted in the walk-in Kenosha at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. We also started to walk in Lake Geneva. At the 2018 walk, there was a board to write what you remembered about the person you are walking for. I thought about my dad and what I remembered and what I missed. It is the love that I miss and remember. In early 2019 Beth was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. I started a fundraising team for the Alzheimer’s Association called "Remember the Love". Beth lives out of state and I was finally able to visit Beth again. I spent (3) days visiting with her. Beth did not know who I was. I told her I was Tim and she said yes. On the second day of the visit, Beth walked away from us. She was gone in an instant and gone about 15 minutes. Thank God we were able to find her. On the third day, she told me I looked like Bakka. She said Bakka a couple of times. I thought maybe she thought I was our Dad. That night I told her I was leaving the next morning. I said, "I love you Beth", Beth responded, "I love you". That made the whole trip well worth it. I got home on Tuesday morning. I got an email Tuesday night from my brother-in-law. It read "Beth asked if you were in the car when we went out from the center, so for sure she knew her baby brother was here." This is why I walk, fundraise and do whatever I can to end Alzheimer's. I will always, Remember the love!!!
