Thank you for visiting my fundraiser page for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s.
This is my seventh year on the "My Sunshine Team," walking in memory of Lois Johnson, mom to my forever friends Karen and Sue. Karen is a tireless Alzheimer's advocate, volunteering hours every week to educate and support families faced with the challenge of this horrific disease. She does it to honor her mom and to help find a cure.
This year, I also walk in memory of Walt, a dear family friend who recently passed away from Alzheimer's. Walt was a traveler who spent some time living overseas. We had that in common and over the years, I have loved hearing his travel stories and sharing ours with him.
I also walk in support of women's health. The greatest risk factor for developing Alzheimer's is simply being a woman. Of the nearly 6 million Alzheimer's patients in the United States, two out of every three are female. Though traditionally Alzheimer's research has been focused on men, things are starting to change and researchers are exploring the Alzheimer's-related brain changes that impact women. The more we know about this disease, the closer we are to a cure for all.
Please make a donation. Together, we can end Alzheimer’s disease.
Thank you for helping advance Alzheimer's support, care and research.
