I'm walking to help reclaim the future for millions. By participating in the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's®, I'm committed to raising awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s research, care and support. For me, this is very personal. I lost my mom to Alzheimer's at the young age of 72. When she was diagnosed (at the age of 60), we moved her closer to us so that she wouldn't have to battle alone. We visited her every other day for over 11 years. SInce she showed signs of Alzheimer's many years prior to diagnosis, she fought this horrible disease for about 20 years. At the end of her life, she couldn't walk, she couldn't talk....she couldn't do anything for herself. She should have been celebrating the news that she would soon be a great-grandmother - instead, Alzheimer's took her away from us in 2001. 

Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease.
