I'm D and I am participating in the Walk to End Alzheimer's. I hope that you will help me support this worthy cause.
As a teenager, I witnessed my grandmother suffering with Alzheimer's. As a young adult, I worked in the dementia ward of a nursing home. Later in life, I saw how Alzheimer's affected my aunts, my friends' loved ones, and the spouses of acquaintances. I have seen how terribly hard this disease is on families. It is heartbreaking.
Alzheimer's is a thief. It steals the person and leaves the body behind. This slow-motion devastation is one of the most difficult and painful things that can happen to a family. So... I am walking in remembrance of those who have suffered, and to honor those who are dealing with it right now. I am raising funds to help support the fight to end this terrible affliction.
I understand that not everyone has the resources to donate to every worthy cause. But, please, check your wallet and consider what else you could do with $10 or $15 dollars and, if you can, please donate. Please donate what you can afford. Every dollar is appreciated.
Thank you for helping advance Alzheimer's support, care and research.
