Last winter, our family's reality changed instantly as we received news far worse than expected. Our mother was forgetting words and struggling with some once-easy skills. We sat listening to the news and heard that our mother had a form of dementia for younger people that was causing her decline in abilities and memory loss. We are now living for the present and trying to cope with constant changes to our world, but also thanking God for what still remains.
I walk in support of my mother, my grandmother, and the others in my family who have battled such a cruel disease. I walk in support of my friends who are impacted from Alzheimer's and dementia. I walk to one day find a cure.
I'm leading the way to Alzheimer's first survivor by participating in the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's®. Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease.
Together, we can end Alzheimer's disease. Please make a donation to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association.
Thank you for joining the fight against Alzheimer's!
