Team Mama II, Mer, Granny, and Ru Ru is the team name uniting dear friends and their families who walked the Alzheimer's journey for many, many years. Mama II, pronounced Mama two, is short for Therese Ruddy, Mer is short for Luce Parigi, Granny is Theresa Giglio and RuRu is short for Ruby Eyvonne McManus, incredible women of faith, family and friends. RuRu and her beloved, Douglas worked side by side as owner/operator of the Beaumont famous, McManus Lamplighter. RuRu was beautiful, inside and out, dressed to a tee, always wearing a smile, and greeting every customer that came to the local lighting store. Much like her work, RuRu could light up a room with her sweet, fun loving, and gentle spirit. Therese, Luce and Theresa had a lot in common, they each raised large families, loved the Catholic Church and their contagious smile and laughter brightened up the room. Therese, with her dear husband, Ken, raised a family of ten while Luce and her "Honey," raised five and Theresa and J.C. had three. They all attended daily Mass at St. Anne Catholic Church. Thank God for friends like RuRu, Mama II, Mer and Granny and for their legacy of faith, family, and finally, their walk with Alzheimer's Disease. Our families have united in a movement to reclaim the future for millions. Join our team for the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's®, the nation's largest event to raise awareness and funds to fight Alzheimer's disease. Together, we can advance research to treat and prevent Alzheimer's, and provide programs and support to improve the lives of millions of affected Americans. Thank you and see you at the walk on October 16th at The Event Centre Great Lawn!
