This year is a time of hope and renewal. After a few tough years for all of us - including the year that we lost Judy, our Mascot of 18 years, we are looking to the future. At the same time, I'm remembering Mom and her sister Blossom, who were fiercely independent, loved travel, loved to laugh, and fiercely loved dogs. While they would be sad over Judy's loss, they would be smitten with Hobbes, our new Mascot. No cognitive change could change that.
This year, I'm walking with Hobbes in a renewed spirit of hope -- and in memory of Mom, Blossom, and Judy. By participating in the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's, I'm committed to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer research, care and support.
Currently, more than 6 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's dementia, and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease.
I ask for your support at the Houston Walk To End Alzheimer's on November 5! Please make a donation to help the Alzheimer's Association advance research into prevention, treatments and a cure for Alzheimer's. For the millions already affected by the disease, the Association offers care, education, support and resources in communities nationwide.
Thank you for joining our movement! The end of Alzheimer's disease starts here.
