I'm leading the way to Alzheimer's first survivor by participating in the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's®. My dad, Leroy Owen, also known as Podsy finally beat this dreadful disease in May of 2018. He was a "true" competitor and lived life to the max! He was bigger than life, the life of the party and the one who welcomed everyone into the family. He was friends with all and if he couldn't remember your name you were "Pods".
This is my sixth year to participate in the Alzheimer's Walk in honor of my dad. My dad's family was hit hard by Alzheimer with my grandmother, two of her sisters and a couple of female cousins dying from this awful disease. It is the saddest experience to watch the person that has loved and protected you to evaporate into a shell of themselves. So please help us, Team Bear and Podsy, in our efforts to find a cure for Alzheimer's disease.
