I'm doing it again. I will continue to do it until there is a cure. Those of us who have our memory in tact cannot begin to imagine the sense of alienation, fear and frustration of being lost, feeling abandoned, becoming a stranger in our own home, surrounded by family we no longer recognize, having the words but not being able to speak them, And, the guilt because no one wants to be a burden to those we love.
I walk because of my Mom. Many of you remember my Mom. Although she did not have Alzheimer's you experienced her bouts with dementia and my torment during the years I cared for her. She was a wonderful woman who was deprived of a good deal of enjoyment for the last years of her life.
Each of us is getting older and I am sure that you worry a bit about Alzheimer's every time you forget someone's name, misplace an item, forget why you went into a room, or just have brain fog. So much research is being done for neuro-degenerative diseases. Please donate today. Give whatever you are comfortable donating.
Visit my personal fundraising page to make a secure, tax-deductible donation or download and print the paper form on my page to mail in with a check. All donations benefit the Alzheimer's Association — and every dollar makes a difference in this fight.
Together, we can end Alzheimer's disease and other neuro-degenerative diseases!
