Since my diagnosis of Mild Cognitive Behavior (MCI), I have purposely become more involved with the Alzheimer's Association at both the local level and national levels.  Locally, I began my volunteer work as a member of the Early Stage Advisory Group.  This group enabled me to be chosen to serve with ten others for one term with the National Early Stage Advisory Group.  Currently, my husband, Randy, and I serve on the board of directors for the Dallas and NE Texas Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association.  These volunteer roles allow Randy and me to raise awareness, reduce stigma of the disease, and advocate to increase funding for research and support programs just to name a few.  We are still very much involved with our  Alzheimer’s and Dementia Support Group that meets monthly at our church, Bent Tree Bible Fellowship, in Carrollton.  Additionally, I try and participate in clinical research trials that will enable researchers and doctors to find better treatments to slow, prevent, and ultimately find a cure for Alzheimer’s.   I am doing everything I can physically and mentally to minimize the effects of MCI, but I also need help from others like you.  As I learned while in the workforce, each of us can make a difference, so please consider joining Jandy’s Clan and walking with us on Saturday, Nov 4.  If you can’t walk with our team, then will you still please consider making a donation to Jandy's Clan, so that we can help drive research toward treatment, prevention, and ultimately find a cure in addition to providing care and support to all those facing Alzheimer's.
