Since becoming a Sigma Kappa I have walked (in person & virtual) for 7 years during that time several advances to Alzheimer’s has happened such as starting clinical trails for drugs that could slow to progression of Alzheimer’s. Alzheimer’s disease is a growing epidemic with someone in the United States developing it every 65 seconds and is the nation’s sixth-leading cause of death, and 5th highest in those 65 and older. Therefore, Sigma Kappa is committed to putting an end to Alzheimer’s, and all other dementias. I am proud to be part of Sigma Kappa who provided the lead gift of $1 million for the Women’s Alzheimer’s Research Initiative (studying the gender differential in the disease) and in 2019, a $1 million commitment to support the U.S. POINTER study. The U.S. POINTER study is researching whether lifestyle changes in high-risk populations such as modification to diet, physical and mental exercise and a healthy lifestyle can delay or prevent the onset of Alzheimer’s disease. But we won’t stop there! Help me on this journey to cure Alzheimer’s by donating to my page! Thank you! Jackie Swartz
