This year we will walk honoring Mary Ellen's memory, as she passed only 12 days following her 66th birthday. I was blessed to travel with her on her journey with Alzheimer's. Every time she greeted anyone they were greeted with a smile. Often times folks would ask if she still knew me, I would remark that she knew I was someone that loved her. The fact of the matter was that I knew her. I remembered who she was and still was to me, my sister.
Many of you have honored Mary Ellen throughout her journey by your generous donations to the Alzheimer's Association. The memorials we received following her passing have been applied to this site. This year I welcome all who attended our first Alzheimer's walk back in September 2016 (photo attached) to join the walk on September 16th in memory of Mary Ellen.
There has never been a more HOPEFUL time to join the walk, with the recent FDA approval of 2 new Alzheimer's medications. I will continue to volunteer at the Alzheimer's Association and co-facilitate an Early On-Set Support Group. Focusing on raising awareness, funding for research and support programs for families on their journey's.
