My grandmother would have turned 94 this year. What I wouldn't give to hear one more story from her. Although repetitive, her stories never got old! I am walking with the goal of seeing the FIRST SURVIVOR!. I want to see someone lead the walk carrying a White flower.
On Saturday, March 12, 2016, I lost my grandmother, Betty Belliveau, who suffered from Alzheimer's! I also lost my Aunt Linda Gary (my grandmother's oldest daughter) on July 7, 2021 suffered from dementia. And on October 6, 1996, we lost my husband's "Pappy" (Judge Leroy Stabler) who suffered for many years with Alzheimer's. My family has certainly been affected by these horrible diseases.
By participating in the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's®, I'm committed to raising awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s research, care and support.
Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease.
I need your support to do my part! Please make a donation to help the Alzheimer's Association advance research into methods of treatment, prevention and, ultimately, a cure for Alzheimer's. For the millions already affected by the disease, the Association offers care, education, support and resources in communities nationwide.
AND PLEASE SIGN UP TO WALK WITH ME!!! The Walk this year will be back IN-PERSON at Segra Park, Home of the Columbia Fireflies. Please join us...
Thank you for joining the movement! The end of Alzheimer's disease starts with us!
