I walk in memory of my Mom, Betty, Billy, Janis, my cousin Gina, and my aunts and uncles. I walk in honor of my sister Deb, my brother Joe, and my cousin Butch.

I lost my Mom to Early Onset Alzheimer's Disease on May 17, 2000. She was only seventy-one years old. Here we are, twenty-two years later, and we still don't have a cure. Since then, our family has watched FIVE of our siblings suffer with this disease. We lost Betty in 2017 at age 64, Billy in 2019 at age 60, and Janis in 2020 at age 59. We also lost our cousin Gina in 2020. This year we walk in their memory and also to honor Deb, Joe and our cousin Butch. Life is not supposed to be like this!

Alzheimer's Disease is a thief. It first steals your memories, then it steals your ability to walk. After that, it takes your ability to speak coherently. Finally, it takes away your ability to eat, and ultimately your life. My family didn't deserve this. No family deserves it. We won't stop fighting for this cause until there is a cure.

Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's and that number is expected to grow to as many as 14 million by 2050. Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease.
