Alzheimer’s disease is relentless. So are we. Join our team for the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's®, the world’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research.
When Mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s it was so devastating to us. Realizing there would come a day that Mom would no longer know who we are. As a family, we recognized there were memory issues long before Mom was diagnosed but actually hearing it is so hard. It was a long hard journey for Mom and our family. And sadly Mom lost her battle with Alzheimer's in March of 2018 just days before her 85th birthday. Instead of celebrating her birthday on March 12th we held her funeral. Mom had fallen the beginning of that year and fractured her hip. That started a 7 week journey of torture for Mom. 3 surgeries, 3 hospital stays and in and out of skilled nursing facilities. It was so hard watching her go through all that she did and Mom not understanding any of it or remembering that she could not get out of bed and walk. Before she broke her hip that's all Mom did was walk. In the end it was in one way a relief to see her pain and suffering end but we all miss her so much! It's so heartbreaking watching a loved one suffer so badly!
Since Mom's diagnosis we have learned of so many family's affected by Dementia or Alzheimer's. It would be amazing to see someone carry that white flower.....to know the 1st ever survivor of Alzheimer's.
Please join our Team and come walk with us on Saturday, Oct. 5 to help make this happen.....so that sometime soon someone will carry that white flower If you can't walk with us would you please consider making a donation to help our Team reach its goal? Any amount is greatly appreciated and we 'Thank you' in advance for your donation!
