       The Alzheimer's walk is in Ocean City again this year on Saturday October 21, 2023.  This year we should achieve a huge milestone of Mission for Margie having raised over half a million dollars since inception of the team 25 years ago.  Come walk, donate, and help us celebrate this wonderful accomplishment.

        This will be the 25th year that we will be walking for our team “Mission for Margie”. It will be over 22 years since Margie died from this debilitating disease.  We walk to honor the memory of Margie as wife, mother and friend, whose life was taken to early and who we miss every day. Like the disease itself the number of friends, family members and other supporters who have been impacted by this disease has steadily grown in those 25 years. Although we unite under the team name “Mission for Margie” we walk for all those members of our team who have lost a loved one or who live with the effects of this disease daily.

            It is estimated that One in 10 persons over 65 have the disease and 1 out of 2 of those over 85. Alzheimer’s disease is the third most expensive disease in the USA. Remember we participate in this walk to help other families fighting this disease. We were lucky enough to have been able to keep Margie at home during her fight against Alzheimer’s, and according to the Alzheimer’s Association more than 7 out of 10 people with Alzheimer’s disease live at home, where it is estimated that there are over 10.9 million unpaid caregivers. The remainder is “paid’ care costing an average of $19,000 per year. Families pay all of that out of pocket. Let us remember that as we walk on October 21st, we are not only honoring our memory of Margie, but we our supporting all those families still battling Alzheimer’s disease.                                                                                                              The Conover Family
