Walk to End Alzheimers is happening — and you can join us at your local event or Walk from Home in your neighborhood. No matter where you participate, know that your health and safety are our top priorities. All local events will implement safety protocols including physical distancing, contactless registration, hand sanitizing stations and more.
Why I'm Walking to End Alzheimers and Other Dementia...
My personal fundraiser is in honor of my friends- Beth Q. Diamond and Vonnie Core, and my co-workers – India Minjarez and Jennifer Barton. Each one has loved ones dealing with or have died from this horrible disease. Beth’s Dad was one of my biggest supporters throughout sports and school events when I was growing up. He has an amazing sense of humor, zest for learning and loves to dance.
I have met Vonnie’s Dad several times when he has come to town to visit. Family is important to him, he has a heart full of passion, is a Veteran and loves his country.
India’s sister was taken by this horrible disease recently. She loved family and was always there to coordinate activities and get-togethers for nieces, nephews, siblings, and other family members. She will be missed.
Jennifer’s Mom had a passion for games and crossword puzzles. She would plan her entire schedule around the Portland Trailblazer’s games. She would stop by the office and say hi when either Jennifer or her sister Sarah would take her to appointments, outings, or other adventures. Jennifer recently lost her mom to this dreadful disease.
These are the reasons that I am walking. I want to do as much as I can to help raise funds and awareness for Alzheimer’s and dementia. Every dollar I raise benefits those affected by Alzheimers disease in my community.
Families facing Alzheimer’s and all other dementia need us now more than ever — and with your help, we can be there for them. Please make a donation or register as a participant and start your own fundraising. Together, we can end Alzheimer’s disease.
Thank you!
