My Gramma was diagnosed with dementia in 2020. She has been a literary influence in my life. I attribute my love for reading to her. She often took me to the library when I visited her, and she gave me my first Roald Dahl books. Which I am presently reading to my son. I live across the country from her, and it hurts my heart that I am not there to support her. I worked with a memory care and saw first hand individuals that are fighting Alzheimer's and dementia. I witnessed the pain and stress their families felt while their loved one was living out their days with dementia. These community members and my Gramma have inspired me to raise awareness and help fund the critical research necessary to find a cure.
