As most of you know, our family has been personally affected by this DEVASTATING disease with my mom.  In part I walk for my children and their children. Did you know that people with a parent with Alzheimers are more prone to inheriting this disease? Did you know that someone is diagnosed with Alzheimer’s every 60 seconds in the United States and over 1/3 of us will have Alzheimers by the age of 85? The odds are not in our favor. Please help us find a cure for this disease. 

Watching my moms memory deteriorate daily is heartbreaking. Her short term memory is gone & now there are more days where her long term memory is fading. She’s always been the strongest woman I’ve ever known. She NEVER lets anything get her down, even now!  She’s dealt with so much in her life yet done so much.

She’s just like you and I which means there is NOTHING to stop you and I from developing Alzheimer’s. 5 years ago I would have never thought my mom would be dealing with this. She deserves so much more! This disease is robbing her of her memories!  It’s so heartbreaking to watch my dad suffer knowing what’s ahead. Im so scared for the day that comes where she will no longer remember us. 

This is my fourth year of being part of this walk and this year I’ve committed to sharing and doing more to help this cause. I’ve volunteered to be the Community  Engagement Chair for the Salem walk and be a part of my local ALZ committee.
