I'm leading the way to Alzheimer's first survivor by participating in the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's®. Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease.
My family has been affected by this disease. My dear sister, Carole, was diagnosed in 2012. Carole was a nurse at OSU Hospital for 30 years. After retiring she returned home to Durand, MI to be close to family. Her daughter, Susan, lived in Portland, OR and upon Carole's diagnosis she made arrangements for Carole to be close to her in Oregon. This picture of Carole in the red jacket and sisters, Cathy, Jeanette, Marta and Barb was taken on January 3, 2018 at St. Anthony's Memory Care Center in Portland. The visit was very good for all of us, but it was very hard to see Carole's condition had deteriorated since our last visit.. She is loved and well cared for at St. Anthony's. We love her dearly.
Together, we can end Alzheimer's disease. Please make a donation to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association.
