Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. Alzheimers disease has affected a number of my family members and family friends. Unfortunately my maternal grandfather and paternal grandmother were first diagnosed with this disease. In 2010 my mother was diagnosed with this disease, although she showed symptoms for years before the official diagnosis. The last 15 years have been challenging as I have not been able to share certain life events with my mom -my wedding, the loss of a child, the birth of 3 beautiful baby girls, and just simple conversation. I am grateful I can visit with her in person (although covid has shown its challenges) but it is not the same when she has no idea who I am. The pain is deep and daily I grieve. I am thankful for God's love and comfort through this journey.
Too many are affected by loved ones the same way my family has been affected. When is enough, enough? I pray a cure is found. Together, we can end Alzheimer's disease. Please make a donation to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association. This is why I am participating in the Alzheimer's Association walk to End Alzheimer's.
Whether you walk, volunteer, donate, pray, or support in other ways, my family is appreciative, and we have been blessed.
Thank you for joining the fight against Alzheimer's!
