For those of you who do not know, my mother was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s with dementia in November of 2018. Since then life has certainly been different and I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t a day to day struggle. After having my son in February 2022, I became her part time caregiver which soon escalated to her full time caregiver while my dad works. Trying to both raise a new life and teach them new things while also trying to adjust to someone who will not learn new things and cannot remember how to do the things we all take for granted has been one of the most difficult things I’ve experienced both mentally and emotionally. I cannot put into words what it’s like to watch someone you love go through something that you cannot fix. I would never wish this upon even my worst enemy. 

She has given me the best life I could have ever asked for and this is the very least I can do for her. I know that a cure is out there and I know we’re so much closer to beating ALZ! 

 As most of you know there is currently no cure for this atrocious disease, just medications that can help slow the progression. Unfortunately, these medications do not help everyone they are prescribed to, like my mom.
