Alzheimer's disease is relentless. So are we.
Florence was "one tough cookie" her whole life, inspiring many along her path. In 2013, she was diagnosed with dementia, which slowly progressed over time. The last seven years were not easy, yet we found ways to create joy and laughter, despite the fact that she wasn't always sure who she was laughing with.
Her memory loss was a devastating sadness for those who care for her, but we are converting it into inspiration to increase awareness, early detection, treatment, and, most of all, prevention, for those individuals and their families who may be affected by the disease in the future.
This will be our team's fifth year participating. Our first two years we enjoyed the day with yellow flowers. This will be our third year with our flowers a beautiful shade of purple, reminding us of the strength she symbolized to us throughout her life.
We will persevere because we believe that one day, there will be a white flower - a survivor - a family who overcomes the challenges that we in this community share. And we dedicate our efforts to making this dream a reality.
Please join us in our efforts to help keep today's moments everlasting memories for all.
Please do not hesitate to call or email with any questions.
Hope to see you next month!
Thank you for your support!
