Dear friends,
I come to you each year to invite you to join our WALK team and/or make a donation. "Brew to Cure" will be participating in the ADK WALK in Queensbury on 10/15 at ACC. This cause is incredibly important to me as my mom recently entered an Assisted Living Memory Care facility due to her declining health. I should clarify -- mom is physically fit but her mental status continues to deteriorate due to this horrific disease. Some days she recognizes me as her daughter; most days she does not. She experiences sun downing where she spends most afternoons packing to go home to her grandmother's house -- her childhood home where she felt safe and secure. Recently she remembered that her grandmother had passed and we re-lived that experience together in the moment. Fortunately, the memory passed and she was able to join her "lady friends" for lunch. Moving mom from her home of 60+ years to memory care was heart-wrenching. I appreciate that she is receiving very good care and is safe; we were fortunate to be offered an opening as many places are full with wait lists. I continue to look for the blessings in this situation and know that advancements are being made through research and clinical trials. Unfortunately, these advancements are not coming soon enough for my mom -- but hopefully in time for my grandchildren. Please consider joining me on 10/15 or making a modest donation to our WALK page/team. I appreciate your support and am truly grateful.
Love,
Bonnie
