Our Stony Brook Center of Excellence for Alzheimer's Disease is honored to partner with the Alzheimer's Association as a Platinum Sponsor for this year's Walk to End Alzheimer's. Alzheimer's disease, the most common form of dementia, is a disease that doesn't discriminate. It transcends boundaries of race, sex, ethnicities and religion. It steals happiness, destroys memories and kills more individuals than breast cancer and prostate cancer combined. In fact, of the over five million people in the United States that Alzheimer's affects, nearly 400,000 are in New York, and over 50,000 are here on Long Island.
During the Walk to End Alzheimer's each participant will be given a flower to carry as an expression of their commitment to ending this disease. Blue, orange, purple or yellow each symbolize something different to the Alzheimer's community. You're invited to hold a flower and walk with us as part of Team Stony Brook Medicine for your health, for the cause, or for the memory of a loved one.
Together, we'll continue our important work of raising awareness to Alzheimer's signs and symptons, promoting the benefits of early screening and detection, providing care and support to affected individuals and their families and accelerating the advancement of reaearch to ultimately achieve a world without Alzheimer's disease.
Registration is necessary to participate in each Walk for liability purposes only. Donation is your choice.
